2016-2017 Research Fellow

Why did you apply for the Komoto Family Foundation Fellowship?
As a pharmacist, I am interested in
finding new ways to increase access to
quality health care while addressing the rising costs and challenges faced in healthcare today. The high rate of unplanned pregnancies in Delano presents many challenges for the community; however, recent changes in legislation allow pharmacists to serve as another point of access for birth control and family planning education. This research is very fulfilling, because it will give pharmacists and other providers in the Delano community the information necessary to improve patient care and really help a community in great need.
What are your career goals for the future?
I'm interested in pursuing a career in public health, managed care, or health economics and outcomes research in the pharmaceutical industry.
What do you like to do for fun?
Outside of work, you are most likely to find me trying new restaurants with my family, or watching embarrassing sci-fi movies with my two poodles. My greatest passions are finding new ways to make my two-year-old son laugh and relaxing on the beach.
